ABOUT
Love for masterpieces
Gradina is the name of a sculptors’ chisel that, in the expert hands of people living at the foot of the Apuan Alps, turns into an instrument of spiritual ennoblement of a raw material: the marble, the whitest one.
The mission of GRADINA® is to give shape to a point of contact between the local know-how and the culture of international cities such as Doha and Singapore through the masterpieces of the best contemporary artists.
Each artwork is immediately available and can be personally seen at the artist's atelier.
PIETRASANTA
Land of artists
Embedded between sea and mountains, the ancient town of Pietrasanta, Northern Tuscany, not far from Carrara, hosts artists since 15th Century, when Michelangelo selected from the quarries of this area a stone first excavated here by the Romans.
With its 55 bronze foundries and marble workshops, Pietrasanta have translated into reality the ideas of international artists including Fernando Botero, Joan Mirò, Igor Mitoraj, Henry Moore, Sophia Vari, Isamu Noguchi, Giò Pomodoro, Bruto Pomodoro and Niki de Saint Phalle.
"Every block of stone has a statue inside it and it is the task of the sculptor to discover it"
